Welcome to Jade Cottage Restaurant Our restaurant specialises in Peking and Thai cuisine Peking cuisine is traditionally the cooking of the Imperial Chinese capital of the North. As well as being the residence of the Emperor and the country's cultural centre, Peking came to attract the greatest chefs and to assimilate regional specialities. Centuries later, it is still the gourmet capital of China. Peking Cuisine is distinguished by elegant and mildly seasoned dished as well as rich foods. Garlic and spring onions are widely used and the flavours are distinct and memorable. The North of China is 'corn country' so specialities include a variety of dumplings (precursors of Ravioli), Peking Duck with trimmings, special noodles and pancakes. Thai cuisine finds its roots in the historical blending of Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai cultures. The popularity of Thai cuisine has grown dramatically all over the world because of the exotic contrasts in taste of the sweet, sour and hot dishes in a typical meal.
